Day 1: Get seeds from pod and plant them
As I still have dried pods from the last batch, here is how to get the seeds out.
After they have completely dried, choose the pods that feel hard (not the soft / mushy ones). After breaking them off the stem, take off the top part with your nail or by snapping it off. Now you can press from the sides and split the pod in two. You should now have two halves with seeds in them. Gently remove the seeds, that’s it! Now choose the biggest and “fattest” seeds. You may notice that some look too dried out, flat and wrinkled.
Next, prepare a few small pots with compost in them. Make a hole in the middle, about 2-3cm deep and put about 4-6 seeds into it. Theoretically it only needs 1 seed to become the plant, but it makes sense to plant a few more in case not all of them survive, which will most likely be the case. After covering the hole with some compost, sprinkle the pots with water so that the compost is nice and wet. Now just put them in a warm-ish place and let the magic happen 🙂
