Let’s get those seeds!
The radish plants have dried out now and thus it’s the perfect time to harvest the pods and get the seeds from them. Lucky for me, there are way more pods than I’ll need, so I’ll just get a few of the best ones from each plant. As you can see, the plants are quite big now and each one has hundreds of pods, each pod containing about 6 seeds. Of course not all of the seeds will be in perfect condition, but still, there are more than plenty!
The best way to get the seeds out of the pods, is to hold the pod and snap off the top bit which was attached to the plant. Here we can already see if the seeds are good or not. If the first seed is nice, they’re probably all nice, if it’s all dried and black, well then the others probably are too… After snapping off the top bit, press the pod together between your fingers until it cracks open. Then just take the two halves apart and empty the seeds into a container. The seeds can be kept for the next season, or even the one after that!
