Rescuing passion fruit seeds
Lunchtime in Vienna, a jug of fruit juice to keep us cool and hydrated. Obvious thing to do when you see seeds somewhere: Take them! Floating around the juice were passion fruit seeds. I must admit, I really do like them, the taste of the soft flesh around them, the mini explosion of sweetness in my mouth. This time though, I decided to put a few aside to try and plant them at home.
Having own passion fruit at home?! How awesome that would be!
So I ate the soft little pocket of fruit off them and just kept the seeds, 12 in total. Fast-forward 3 weeks and I’m planting them at home. After searching online a bit what the best time for planting the seeds is, the answer I found was: The sooner the better. Various pages suggested that older seeds tended to not sprout that well and that young seeds were the best. So like any other seeds, these guys got their own individual little soil rooms in a little 12 room soilpartment. 😀
