Update on the watering
It’s been a few days now since planting the tomatoes and the ollas and seeing the water level go down in the ollas is just so rewarding. At first I planned to not do any surface watering at all and only rely on the ollas, but seeing that these are little plants and some of the leaves drying in this warm weather, I opted for helping them a bit.
As you can see in the picture, I’ve watered the individual plants by watering the earth leading to the ollas. This way (I hope at least), the roots will already start to grow in the right direction, towards the water source.
Unfortunately I forgot to measure the amount of water that fits into each olla, but after the first 40 hours, they were already half way down and the earth around them felt nicely damp, not soaked.
