Day 39: Desperately needing a replant
I should have done it earlier, but today I felt the energy and motivation to replant the seedlings. They have already grown so much! As mentioned in a previous post, I don’t like the idea of getting rid of some of the weaker ones, but seeing that having them all will just make all of them suffer, I had to take some out. I still left more than enough when replanting them, so that I can then see which ones are feeling good in their new environment and which ones aren’t. The ones that aren’t, I will have to take out again and probably put in the compost. Knowing that the watermelon plant can get really big and that each plant carries multiple watermelons, it doesn’t strike me as such a terrible thing to do. Rather get rid of a few small ones in the beginning, than not having any grow into big plants later. I really hope they can dig in their roots nicely and become some amazing watermelon plants! 🙂
So I set out to do the replant, here are the pictures.
As I was replanting, some of the seedlings fell out of the earth that I was moving into the new hole. One of them got a special spot just outside the bedroom 😉
