Day 8: Getting coloured and transplanted
The radishes are slowly getting their red/pink colouring at the bottom of the stem. I know it’s a good sign that they are growing well, but I’m not sure its good that the colour is popping out of the earth… Tonight, I will start replanting them to a newly prepared mini-plot outside the bedroom.
The corner shoot that I’m following closely hasn’t changed that much yet, I wonder when this one will start getting his colours.
… later that day…
As I’ve mentioned, tonight the replanting was done. The plot I replanted them to wasn’t the most suitable of places, but I hope it will do. The problem is, that it’s not really nice earth for plants to grow, very dry and dusty. So I added compost to it and watered it to make it as garden-like as possible. First I dug up the hole and then filled some compost into it before adding the plant. I did this for all of them except the ones in the semi-transparent pots. Those, I just want to keep to see what happens under the earth.
So now to the transplanting… What I’ve learned today, is that the little radishes aren’t the best veggies to start off small and then replant. As they just start shooting upwards and have lots of thin and very long roots, it was very difficult to keep them intact when taking them out the pot. So for the next ones, I will plant them directly into their definite growing place.
Anyway, here are the pictures of the transplant process, right next to their new neighbours of the first lot.
