Concentrating the power
All the garlics this year seem to be plagued by some kind of illness which dries out the leaves and covers them with little black spots. Even so, it appears this batch is doing well, growing nicely. To prevent the plant from growing too much above the ground, the growing stem has to be cut off and the leaves folded or knotted. This is done to concentrate it’s power to build up the vegetable below the earth, the actual garlic that will then be eaten. So that’s exactly what I did with these guys, it having been overdue for quite some time now.
I’ll keep watering them and hope they continue to grow nicely, despite the leaves not looking too well.
