Last shimmer of hope?

We’ve been away for a while and there has been lots of rain. When we got back, this is what I found, 3 little stems without any leaves, all gone. Bummer… Will I have to cancel this seed 2 seed experiment? Also, it’s surely the wrong season, as we’re going over to autumn/winter now, not summer.

But wait, one of them has a few tiny leaves growing, maybe a shimmer of hope can stay alive?
