Getting colour

Great, there seems to be a change in colour which is for the better I hope. Although the leaves are turning reddish, they seem to be growing.

Some of the shoots have died, not sure why. Also, I’m really not sure about how much water to give them, as they are supposed to be summer fruits that like the extreme heat and sunshine. But leaving the earth all dry doesn’t seem to make sense to me, so I’m in a bit of a lost state.
