Update on the tomato rescues
This post is to summarise the progress of 3 different plants, 2 brothers and 1 sister actually, which are in different stages of their lives.
Our first brother has been having a challenging childhood since the start. For some reason, his leaves grew very slowly compared to the others, and they started getting yellow and papery very early on. Luckily though, the second layer of leaves that I would normally remove, were this little dude’s saviours. So instead of removing the new ones, I was able to remove the old ones, giving the new ones space to grow.
Our next little bro, is the one that got blown away by the wind during the hydroponics experiment. He got planted nearby, just outside the bedroom, where he’ll hopefully have a long and healthy life. So far he has recovered really well and the first flowers are looking very pretty. Soon a few tomatoes maybe?
As for the sister, well she has been growing like crazy! Admittedly, she’s had the nicest start from all of them, having been planted with new fresh soil and ample space. Her third level of tomatoes are already starting to come out. The watering for her has been a great success, using the water bottle as a plastic olla. Just 1.5L a day and growing wonderfully. I noticed that water seeps out the bottom and flows onto the gravel, so as of today there’s a plate underneath to catch it all. Just look at the size of her and the tomatoes she’s already bearing, wonderful.
