Tomato with plastic olla
So I got a few stray tomato plants that were just calling for experimenting 🙂
Obviously I wouldn’t say no to that! I decided to try something similar to the ollas, but with a plastic bottle instead of a clay pot. The bottle I chose had pretty thin plastic, which made it easier to puncture with a pin. After putting around 4 holes in it on either side, distributed equally from top to bottom, I planted it together with the tomato plant. The bottom of the bottle went in a bit diagonally, the bottom being in the middle of the pot.
After planting it, I filled the bottle to the top and put the lid on, the water started seeping in slowly. Then I placed it into the shade, since it’s still a baby plant. All I have to do now, is fill the water bottle every other day, great!
